Dispute a Paypal Payment Transaction To Daniel Wellington Inc Singapore? Be careful!

If you happen to receive Paypal notification email saying that you've sent a payment to someone you didn't (for example: Daniel Wellington Inc Singapore), and the email considerably included a button for you to 'Dispute Transaction', be careful.

1) Verify the email sender:

Most of the email clients or web mail providers allow you to see the 'actual' sender of the email. If not, try clicking on the reply or forward button and the info will be shown in the message to be forwarded, as shown above.

Clearly, 100% this is not from PayPal.

2) Verify the embedded link:

Before clicking on any links or buttons provided in the email, always do a mouseover and the hyperlink behind the link or button will be shown. If the link is not pointing to PayPal.com, don't click. 99.999% the email is fake and a phishing email.

For this case, it points to a bit.ly shortened link.

Bitly statistics shows there have been 869 clicks to this link within 7 days since 25-Jul-2017. The shortened link actually brings you to the url shown below, where the website request you to login with your PayPal ID and password in order to continue 'Dispute Transaction'.

A check of WHOIS record shows that 'SERVICES-DW.COM' domain was registered on 25-Jul-2017.

Hopefully, none of the 869 users who have clicked on the shortened link got cheated.
